CLOSER GREEN LAND
Hello everyone.
We will be, if hopefully you can join, a small ensemble of musicians, exploring improvisation and song in a theatrical setting, creating a soundtrack before a backdrop of projected images. The curated works are drawn from images and words relating to a time spent in this beautiful and at times, challenging land. Cornwall.
The work will be presented as an installation, not a formal seated event. A 40 minute set performed four times from 12.00 to 17.00 on Saturday March 7th at the Auction House in Redruth when the town will be celebrating St Pirans Day which marks the beginning of spring. Perhaps, it isn’t best described as a gig but as a theatrical concert.
In my mind while putting this together is this video of Ragnar Kjartansson’s The Visitors. While Closer Green Land won’t (of course) be anything like it, I love the vibe. It’s about a 50 minute watch. When it’s exhibited in galleries it’s a 9 screen installation.
In October ‘25 we installed Petricor, Un Nuevo Internacionalismo at Espacio Pulpo in Palma de Mallorca. The simple theatrical device we shall use is similar to the drapes we used there: PETRICOR, UN NUEVO INTERNACIONALISMO
Here is a work in progress demo timeline of imagery and song with notes towards an improvisation. I hope you enjoy the idea and will join with us.
Please note: This 20 minute demo illustrates the space for improv with a simple guitar drone that then runs into the existing songs. The songs are at different tempo but as we will be playing them live they will simply become a continuation of the instrumental.
Other works include: STAND ANCIENT
